With each passing day, we get closer to the time when shorts take the place of trousers and we bare our pasty legs to the world. Thankfully, Summer 22 has much more potential than previous years as seeing us get much more poolside time abroad, meaning the summer style serve is back.

If you’re the kind of man who digs out his old faithfuls year in or years out, or the sort who panic buys whatever he can find at the airport, now is the perfect time to do a little research into this seasons new trends that will suit you best.

I’ve created a little break down of this years three strongest looks, your summer rotation requires depth and these three options will have you covered.

Tailored

Reiss – Oatmeal Linen Shorts – £88

Where else would we find the best tailored shorts than at the go to high street store. Cut beautifully from pure linen for a lightweight feel with pressed creases, they are the ultimate tailored short. Pair with a plain white tee and a pair of wayfarers and you’re poolside ready.

Patterned

Zara – Jacquard Bermuda Short X Javier S. Medina – £45.99

My intention was to highlight a pair of floral shorts but I couldn’t ignore these beauties. Zara doing what Zara do best, simple pieces that are visually exciting but sartorially very simple. A wide fit Bermuda short should be in everyones wardrobe and these get my vote.

Metallic

Stone Island – Nylon Metal Swim Short – £159

I couldn’t write about shorts and not mention the brand of utilitarianism. These Stone Island shorts have a metallic sheen that really comes into its own when the sun hits them, not forgetting the ever popular compass logo on the leg.
