So the first day of LCM has been and gone in a flash with just enough time to gather ourselves for the next three ahead. Proceedings where kicked off in style by Gordon Richardson’s Topman Design collection which was followed up by strong shows at Man, Kit Neale and Christopher Shannon. Yesterday wasn’t as jam-packed with runway shows as the upcoming days so the opportunity was there to scope some brilliant presentations. There were great visuals showcases from Universal works, Aquascutum and Barbour.
Show Of The Day: Topman Design
As always with Gordon Richardson’s direction and Luke Day’s phenomenal styling, the Topman Design show lead from the front on day one. The show had was themed around a late 60s to early 70’s vibe with neat mod fitting tailoring in bold tartans which were prominent through out. There was great statement outerwear with over exaggerated Mongolian wool decoration the stand out feature from the collection.
Outfit Of The Day: Mr Jack Guinness
Sitting on the front row at Topman Design Jack Guinness stood out in a beautiful brown herringbone raglan sleeve overcoat which was combined expertly with a burgundy roll neck, blue tweed waistcoat and skinny navy trousers.
Presentation Of The Day: Barbour
Myself and the High Def Male team finished our day at the Barbour presentation and was a fantastic note to end day one on. Barbour’s upcoming collaboration with Japanese brand White Mountaineering was razor sharp as expected from these utilitarian heavyweights.
Collection Of The day: Peckham Rye RTW
For AW15 Peckham Rye are launching their first ready to wear range, and what a debut capsule collection it is. Most people know the fantastic historical story behind Peckham Rye’s tailoring background and the amazing silk accessories they’ve built current reputation on. This is different; modern, contemporary, directional and very cool indeed. I love the colour pallet the collection is built upon with tailoring and outerwear put together with strong teal greens, plums and navy’s blended with rich golds and caramels. A special mention also for the geometric print knitwear which is especially good.
