If you’re worried about those extra pounds packing up over the festive period, we understand, we’re all in the same boat. There is no way you can have a guilt free Christmas when there are chocolates, alcohol and turkey coming out of your ears. However, we are here to offer a low maintenance way of keeping yourself trim and healthy in the New Year without having to go to the gym.
1- Watch Your Portion Sizes
For the month after Christmas, we’re always feeling sorry for ourselves and conscious of how much we are eating. One easy tip to watch what your consuming is to control your portion sizes. Alternatives to follow, using the smaller side plate when you eat so you do not over serve, eat until you’re comfortably full, do not gorge and over fill your plate.
2- Clean Eating
After stuffing our faces with chocolate and treats, your body needs a cleanse and detox that comes in the form of veggies. Switch up the carbs and naughties for a lovely fresh plate of broccoli and asparagus. It’s easily done and is extremely cost effective! You can still get your home comforts but in a plant based form.
3- Walk it off
I know you’re thinking, when do I have the time? Our tip is lunch breaks. Cut down your lunch hour by eating at your desk and take your hour lunch as your walking break. Choose your route, and even involve the rest of the team as you incorporate an hours walk into your daily routine, a little goes a long way in the bigger picture.
4- Hydration is Key
Make sure you are drinking at least 2 litres of water a day, this has so many beneficial qualities and fuels your body so you are alert and ready for the day.
5- Catch up on Sleep
After many boozy nights, we understand that sleep may not have been a main priority. However, for a healthy body and healthy mind it is crucial that you maintain at least 6-8 hours of sleep each night. Your body needs to recharge and boost itself to be prepared for a full days work.
