Launched in 1986, Charles Tyrwhitt is known for producing quality menswear that built to last, using only the finest materials sourced from every corner of the globe, including local producers in Britain. Despite its reputation being most widely known for making the perfect staple formal shirt, Charles Tyrwhitt also offers a full wardrobe that includes formal and casualwear and accessories. This season, they have added to the lifestyle side of their brand with the release of their ‘No More Rules’ collection, a versatile line-up of pieces designed to carry you from work to the weekend.

‘Office’ is a looser term now than what it used to be. Your office may be your kitchen table, spare bedroom, hot-desking space or even behind a bar. Take Rich Woods for example. Known professionally as The Cocktail Guy, Rich is an award-winning bartender and Drinks Consultant based in London.

Throughout his career, Rich has amassed a number of awards including first place in Bombay Sapphire’s ‘World’s Most Imaginative Bartender Competition’ for the UK and Ireland, and was included amongst the Evening Standard’s ‘London’s Most Influential People’ list.

Rich is the perfect ambassador for the No More Rules collection. If anyone were to earn the right to the title of rule breaker, he certainly fits the bill with his unique drink creations which challenge our perception of traditional cocktail mixing.

“No two days in my week are the same and no two clients are either. Sure, it’s important to look the part, whatever the occasion, but style is also a reflection of our personality. With Charles Tyrwhitt’s No More Rules collection, I always feel suitably dressed whilst still being able to reflect a bit of me.” Rich says.

We caught up with Rich to ask him a few questions about his personal style and his approach to daily dressing.

‘Smart casual’ is now a go-to for everyday men’s dressing. Do you feel that this impacts the way you approach an outfit?

For sure. Rather than switching outfits from day to evening, I can now simply swap out an item or two and still feel comfortable and relaxed on a night out. It’s important to me to look the part, wherever I am or the occasion.

What does ‘dress smarter, not harder’ mean to you?

We don’t have to dress as we once did for the working day, hybrid working has had a huge impact on style and what is now acceptable attire for meetings. So, whether it’s an office meeting, a site visit or early evening drinks, I still want what I wear to reflect my personality but look like I mean business.

What draws you to the No More Rules collection?

Versatility. The collection includes smart-casual pieces that compliment my lifestyle perfectly. I can wear any item and feel stylish for any occasion throughout the day.

What is your go-to outfit for working behind the bar?

Dark hides a multitude of sins, so it would be dark trousers – normally chinos. And a dark and breathable denim shirt. Comfy shoes are also a must and I love Charles Tyrwhitt’s new classic trainers.

Is there a particular colour palette you prefer when building your outfits?

Not really. I enjoy dark colours but really don’t mind adding a splash of colour… It’s not my intention to stand out but I never want to blend in.
