Men’s footwear has been overlooked for many years, and the importance of a good shoe seemed only fitting when discussing womenswear. Now it seems to be growing as an integral part of men’s fashion, not just the clothes. K-Swiss represents quality, performance, style and more importantly, innovation. Known for their classic tennis style type shoe; this spring the Si-Rannell 2 has undergone a makeover.
K-Swiss have stepped out of their comfort zone and into a different territory with the new Si-18. Drawing inspiration from the 80’s, K-Swiss have incorporated a lot of colour on each pair this time round. Some are solid colours, with the majority having two colours present on each shoe; however, most of the new colourways have a minimum of three colours. 80’s fashion consisted of bright colours and mixing them together, the use of bold colours here, adds to that 80’s feel, and gives it a retro finish.
With more mismatching of colours from contrasting eyelets, to badges, soles and laces, this shoe is a slick adaptation of an 80’s style runner. Not to mention the fabric used. Underlays of mesh assist in creating the 80’s look desired by K-Swiss.
This is great because everyone wants a nice pair of shoes during the summer, which are a great to look at but more importantly, comfortable. The colourways are fitting to what is already out there and available from competitors, K-Swiss has taken an opportunity worth the risk. Being contemporary and appealing to a wider audience should have a great outcome.
The Si-18 is priced at £60 and will be released to stores this March.
