If there was a part of the day that I would say was the most important, it would be my morning. What I do every single morning has a huge impact on how well my day goes.
In today’s article, I wanted to share with you a few habits that you can use in your morning routines to help you have a better day.
There’s a lot of habits that you can choose from. What I would say to you is make sure that you wake up with purpose. Make sure that you wake up with some form of ritual, some form of plan in place.
You’ll probably find a difference when you wake up, you snooze your alarm, you roll out of bed; in comparison to when you wake up with purpose. You wake up with meaning.
You have some good habits in place at the beginning of your day. You’ll see a huge difference in how well your day pans out. There’s a lot of habits that you can utilize into your routine and I chose four.
Just take time to read this article and as always, there’s a video to accompany this article that demonstrates 4 morning habits you really need to try in more detail:
Below is a transcription of the video.
Get Moving
It could be exercise. It could be going for a walk. It could be just waking up, dropping down, and doing 20 press-ups. Doing a little bit of exercise, getting moving in the morning is going to release endorphins.
It’s going to release that feel good hormone. It’s going to get your heart rate going. It’s going to completely change and shift your state from being asleep, being rested, to being motivated and being energized.
Like I said, it doesn’t have to be an hour’s workout in the gym. It could be as simple as going for a quick walk. I highly recommend that in your morning, somewhere in your morning routine, you get moving.
You have some form of exercise in place.
Pay Attention To Your Appearance
You want to leave your house looking the best that you possibly can. A good grooming routine in the morning can make you look good, but at the same time, it can get you ready for the day ahead.
I know that my granddad, 92 years old. If he hasn’t had a shave in the morning, he feels different. It doesn’t set him up for a good day.
That’s been conditioned into him to have a shave every single day. Now shaving isn’t something that I do every single day, but I know that when I have a good shave in the morning, I do feel slightly better.
I’ve recently been testing out Dollar Shave Club. To be honest with you guys, I’ve never used Dollar Shave Club because in the UK, it isn’t as accessible; but they are launching in the UK and they sent me a box to try out.
So far? I’ve been very, very impressed. In the morning, it’s all about time. So if we can get them done quick, it’s going to help us. Having a quick shave in the morning, but a very good safe shave, is important.
I was impressed with the Dollar Shave Club, and you can grab a £5 discount by clicking the link below.

If shaving isn’t for you, of course you could just have a good grooming routine. Moisturize every morning, wash your face every morning, apply an eye cream, make sure your hair is on point every morning…
Also, the clothing that you decide to wear is important. When you leave the house and you don’t look your best, you’re not going to feel your best.
Feed Your Brain With Some Knowledge
Either reading or listening to an audio book, or listen to a podcast, or watching a YouTube video, a very educational YouTube video, is a good way of setting yourself up for a good day.
For me, I do like to sit down and read sometimes; but also, if I haven’t got the time, I will literally just put in my headphones and I will listen to a podcast.
I will listen to an audio book, or I have a small playlist on YouTube of videos that really motivate me, that get me ready for the day ahead. I will just put them on while I’m making a coffee, while I’m having a shave, while I’m doing other things in my morning routine.
Again, if you just wake up and you put the news on, or you read the newspaper, it can be very depressing. It’s not going to put you in the right mindset for the day ahead. Making sure that you feed yourself with knowledge in the morning is another good habit to introduce into your morning routine.
Journaling
It sounds confusing, but all it is, is you grabbing a piece of paper or a notepad, a pen, and writing down what you are thinking. That’s all it is for me.
I’ve used the five minute journal, the self journal. I’ve used a lot of different journals that you can go and buy, which give you some form of guide.
For me, all it takes now is just a plain notepad, a pen, and I just write down what I’m thinking at the time, what’s on my mind. When it’s in your mind, it’s heightened.
It’s very busy and it’s very hard to understand why you’re thinking a certain way. When it’s down on paper and you can see what your thoughts are, and you can rationalize and you can also start working them out. It really does give you more clarity in the mornings.
What I do is I will spend 10 or 15 minutes in the morning just journaling. I will play some music. I will journal. I will write down what’s on my mind at the time.
Then towards the end of that 10, 15 minutes, I just start piecing it all together. I start working out solutions. It sounds crazy, but when it’s on paper, when it’s in front of you, it makes it easier to deal with.
